Squids belong to the order of cephalopods. Feeds on fish and crustaceans. Their meat is almost like beef. The common squid (lat. Loligo vulgaris) grows up to 50 cm in length. The sleek body is surrounded by a narrow dorsal plate – a shell, covered with a muscular mantle. The chamber has 8 tentacles, 2 long tentacles with suckers at the ends. His blood is blue.
When buying frozen squid, pay attention to the color of the squid meat, which can be seen through the skin – it should be white. The skin itself has various colors – from pink to purple. Before cooking, frozen squid must first be covered with boiling water, then the skin will shrink and it will be easy to remove, which is necessary. After the squid meat is thawed, soak it in hot but not boiling water for 3 minutes. Then peel off the skin with your hands. It is recommended to beat the squid fillet with a meat mallet before cooking. Squid can be boiled, stewed, fried and marinated.
