Rainbow trout (lat. Salmo gairdneri rich), or steelhead salmon, is a salmon fish belonging to the salmon family. The body is spindle-shaped, flat on the sides, the scales are small. The back is steel-colored with black spots, the sides are silvery, the belly is grayish-white. During the spawning period, a wide orange band appears, running along the middle of the sides, especially characteristic of males.
Trout is an excellent choice for those who want an easy-to-prepare, nutritious and filling fish in their diet. The production process is facilitated by the fact that it is not necessary to remove the scales from this fish, because when the small scales are removed, a thin layer of natural jelly is also removed, which helps to maintain the natural moisture during cooking. In order to prepare trout in a healthy way, it is recommended to cook it better in water or steam, as well as grill it. For seasoning, mint, oregano, butter, capers, tomatoes, ham, lemon, small onions are most suitable. It is recommended to use mild-flavored oils – strong-smelling oils can mix with the taste of the fish. When frying trout, do not overcook it – the finished trout should be moist and soft, suitable for hooking with a fork.
This fish is not only tasty, but also very healthy – it is rich in fish oil, proteins, Omega-3 acids, which help to quickly fill up and at the same time stimulate the metabolism.
